Tough fishing on the waters of Ross Barnett
As the battle continues with the weekend Bass Anglers tournaments, the American Bass Anglers (ABA) held their 2nd tournament in Division 1 Mississippi on the waters of Ross Barnett, April 14th, 2017.
As the weather takes a toll for the worse with the upper states in this tournament, cold and wind factors took Co-Anglers and showed them that it will not be an easy tournament for them. 8 out of only 16 Co-Anglers for this tournament had no weight to bring to the tables and the top 8 never saw a 3 fish limit.
To take the win Shane Cade of Clinton, MS, took home the honors with a 2 fish limit of 6.05 lbs. and taking home a pot of $700.00 for the win.
Shane explains to (ABA) how the day went for him. “It was tough, cold, and windy. I caught one in the morning and one this afternoon. We stayed up north too. I don’t think many of the guys went south today but those were the only 2 bites I had. I’m just glad they were both keepers”
Right behind Cade was Co-Angler Clint Horton of Ripley, MS who just brought to the tables just one fish that weight in at 5.41 lbs and was as well the Big Bass of the tournament.
Horton tells the (ABA) about his day on the water and his 1 big bass fish. “It’s a short story. I caught 1. We flipped everything in sight. Bushes, grass, trees, whatever we could find. I just got lucky and got the one good bite.”
For his second place finish, Horton takes home a pot of $400.00 and big bass check for $75.00. This shows you what a one large mouth bass can bring to the tables if it is the right one. In third place was Rustin Beaudette of Bogalusa, LA amount the few Co-Anglers with a 2 fish limit and a total weight of 4.29 lbs to earn him a pot of $200.00 for his catch.

The next tournament for this Mississippi Division will be held at Ross Barnett once again on May 5th 2018 were these Co-Anglers can get a second chance for better waters and better weather.
