Frogs For Largemouth Bass – Why You Should Never Buy Them If You Want to Catch Fish

Buying plastic frogs for bass fishing is a disaster 9 out of 10 times. Plastic frogs are one of those lures designed to catch fisherman and not fish. Why? Because there are thousands of plastic frogs made every year that could not hook a fish properly unless you literally had the fish in your hands and placed the hook in their mouths yourself. The hook positioning on plastic frogs is horrible. There is no incentive for these companies to get it right.

They must be making a profit doing business as usual, so they just don’t want to fix the hook set up. Fisherman keep buying them because they look so good in the packaging, but as soon as they get them in the water the top water explosions start happening and the fish don’t get hooked. Realizing a lure can’t hook a fish, after two or three missed hook ups is infuriating. It’s enough to make you curse 50 times in the middle of nowhere, or slap your rod off the ground potentially snapping the tip right off.

So, what is the solution to the plastic frog dilemma? It’s pretty simple solution actually. Here’s the secret. When you see plastic frogs in the fishing aisle, fight every urge you have to buy them, they will only disappoint you in the long run, and end up wasting your fishing time when you try to become a lure designer and start cutting holes in the thing trying to expose the hook. Step away from the frogs and never look back. There may be a few good frogs out there, but the junk far outweighs the good stuff. Stay away.
