Rob Crane Co-Angler, Family Man and Philanthropist

As a co-angler it’s sometimes hard to constantly balance a lot of things at once tournament fishing, family, work, community, etc. Co-Angler Rob Crane seems to have it all figured out. This week, we travel to a small town called Caseyville, Illinois. It’s located about 15 minutes away from St. Louis, Missouri. Rob has been fishing for many years and has been a co-anger since 2011. Hear Rob tell us about his favorite lures, lakes and more. 

Co-Anglers.com: What is your favorite lure?

Rob Crane: 4.8 inch Keitech Swing Impact Fat Swimbait. Color Pro Blue Red Pearl. 

CA: What is your favorite rod and reel combination?

RC: My favorite all around combo is a Vexan 7ft Mag Medium Heavy with a Daiwa Ct Type-R. 

CA: What tournament trail do you fish?

RC: FLW Costa Series, FLW Bass Fishing League

CA: Tell us about your most recent tournament finish?

RC: 9th place on the Co-Angler side June 2017 FLW Costa Series Central Divison event on Kentucky Lake. 

CA: How long have you been a co-angler?

RC: Since 2011. Did 3 years as a Co-Angler in a local Bass Club, Then 2 years in FLW BFLs, now this is my second year in the FLW Costa Series. 

CA: What lake do you like best and why? 

RC: Table Rock Lake. I love that it has such good populations of Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted Bass.

CA: Best tournament finish? Which lake and year?

RC: Club Level-  1st place Kentucky Lake 2011

FLW BFLS- 3rd Place Grand Lake 2015

FLW Costa Series- 3rd Place Lake Dardanelle 2016

Rob tell us what has inspired him most and why. Also, in a future article, Rob will talk about an organization, The Bro-Anglers, that he has created to show the youth in his town how to fish. The Bro-Anglers inspires kids in his community to learn more about the sport, conservation and preservation of our water ways.

CA: What or who inspires you to fish? 

RC: I am a die hard bass fisherman. I fish every chance I get it don’t matter if it’s a pond, river, or big lake. If there are bass biting I’m game. Its an addiction. 

CA: What do you expect from tournament fishing?

RC: I just want to continue to become a better fisherman and man. I also really enjoy teaching others how to fish. If tourney fishing gives me a platform to do so then so be it. 

CA: Who is one person you would like to fish with but haven’t had the opportunity to fish with yet?

RC: That’s a tough one. Well I have 3 I would like to fish with one day. James (JMFW) Watson, Marcus Sykora, and the G-man, Gerald Swindle. 

CA: Do you have a fishing goal? If so, what is it?

RC: Fishing is my true passion in life so to be in the fishing industry for a living in some aspect.
