CA: What lake do you like best?
MG: With out a doubt SAM RAYBURN. Great lake to fish and the competition. Some of the best fishermen in the country.
CA: Best tournament finish?
MG: I have 2 top ten finishes the Costa FLW. Three first place finishes in the BFL and ABA. A whole list of top 5 finishes.
CA: What or who inspires you to fish?
MG: My wife and main sponsor. It means more to me to see the look on her face when I bring home a trophy or check. That’s what inspires me keep going out in the snow, sleet, rain and sweltering heat.
CA: What do you expect from tournament fishing?
MG: I started tournament fishing to learn to be a better fisherman. I also marshal for the Elites. It’s all about keeping a good attitude, watching and listening.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Bassmaster Elite series. The “Elites” as it’s often called is the highest level of professional bass fishing. For an opportunity to fish the Elites, an angler must qualify though the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens or the B.A.S.S. Nation. Marshals during the Elites are considered the eyes and ears on the water. Marshals help protect the integrity of the sport as they are similar to a referee in many other sports.
CA: Who is one person you would like to fish with but haven’t had the opportunity to fish with yet?
MG: Edwin Evers. I’m what I call a semi power fisherman that would like to learn finesse fishing. I’ve watch him for years he does both well.
CA: Do you have a fishing goal? If so, what is it?
MG: My goal is to be the best I can and enjoy tournaments while I can. Being a Co-Angler isn’t going to make you rich. Do it because you love fishing and want to learn and meet new people. I have made some great friends doing this.
